Shows: This Monday // This Wednesday

Monday September 24th at 8pm, I’m playing an improvised duo with Allison Cameron at the Tranzac.  I’ve never performed with her before but she is without a doubt one of Toronto’s most intriguing musicians who’s worked with a variety of people including Eve Egoyan, Eric Chenaux, Arraymusic, Supermusique and Bang On a Can among others.  I’m a big fan…

In the first set, she’ll be playing in the amazing trio of herself, ubiquitous local hero Ryan Driver, and hidden treasure (to some people out there) Stephen Parkinson, who is also a brilliant composer and member of the Allison Cameron band.   I remember seeing this trio perform when I first started playing improvised music in Toronto somewhere between five and ten years ago and really enjoying their unique chemistry.  Excited to be playing with them.

The second set is a duo with me playing acoustic cello.

9PM on Wednesday, at Holy Oak my cello duo the Knot is launching our debut recording a split tape with Aaron Lumley on Arachnidiscs.   Lumley cannot make the show but Babel, the project of Arachnidiscs boss Jakob Rehlinger will be playing, and launching two of his releases too.  Following those sets, we have Montreal’s Drainolith (formerly of AIDS Wolf) and Nate Young (of Wolf Eyes).  Super exciting evening!
