Café Con Pan disc release & the beginning of a busy-looking month for me.

Friday night at Lula Lounge’s Lulaworld Festival, the Son Jarocho band I’m a member of,  Café Con Pan is celebrating the release of our new album Nuevos Caminos a Santiago.  I’m really excited because we’re going to have some really special guests joining us that night.  The core lineup features Alec Dempster and Kali Nino (sharing lead vocal duties as well as playing jarana, requinto, guitarra de son, pandero and quijada), which can be augmented by Chris Banks on bass and myself on cello.  On Friday we’re joined by violinist Jessica Hannah Deutsch on violin, Araz Salek on tar, and a special guest who’s coming all the way from Veracruz!   We will also be joined by our bill-mate Marisoul for some songs!

Doors are at 7pm, with music at 8pm.  Tickets are $12 advance, $15 at the door.  You can visit the Lulaworld site for more details and advanced tickets here.  Lula Lounge is located at 1585 Dundas St. W, just west of Dufferin.

Facebook event is located here.

Here’s a video of Café Con Pan performing.

Stay tuned for many more events this month, too.

My cello duo with Tilman Lewis,  the Knot plays at 8pm, Monday May 14th at Somewhere There’s Gone Fishing series, alongside IS0 (Michael Keith) and Hybrid Frequency.

I also have a solo show and the premiere of a new work for violin, piano, marimba, glockenspiel and oboe/ english horn being done by the Thin Edge New Music Collective coming up too!
