Sunday April 29th, I’m really excited to playing at Toronto’s new weekly PWYC Sunday night event, Crosswires. Sounds a little like Wavelength back in the day, huh? Well, yeah… It’s rather similar and they share some staff — both on the front lines and behind the scenes! You likely know Crosswires mastermind Doc Pickles as the eccentric MC of countless Toronto shows most notably with Wavelength.
Crosswires’ spirit of eclecticism and an openness to experimental acts, as well as pop will probably also seem familiar!
This week’s edition feature myself alongside two of my local faves. Pants and Tie brings some unique electronic twists to neurotic noisy funk in the spirit of people like Pere Ubu, the Pop Group and James Chance. Man Made Hill is the solo project of Randall Gagne, who is very adept at created queasy, glazed-over disco jams. So excited to be sharing the stage with these two… And hearing The Lost Babies for the first time.
Doors are at 9pm, and it’s all going down at the Garrison at 1197 Dundas St. W (just West of Ossington!).
Here are some clips of Man Made Hill (I could only find live ones of P+T, and I know there are a few of those of me floating around which I’d rather people not repost!)
