Hello everyone! I’m very excited to announce the release of my (official) debut record “Rife” on London, UK’s Entr’acte. The album brings together three abstract electronic works composed from 2005-2011. It includes my 28-minute work for processed (near-)broken violin Artifacts, whose first section won the 2008 Jeux De Temps competition for emerging Canadian Electroacoustic composers.
You can also preview the album here.
For the release show on September 16th, I feel very fortunate to be flanked by some of my favourite local musicians: the ramshackle forelorn balladry of Tradition, Andrew Zukerman (aka Fleshtone Aura’s) live neo-musique concrète, and Matthew Ramolo’s project Khôra which constructs beautiful large-scale pieces using acoustic guitar, Korg MS-20 synthesizer and field recordings. Craig Dunsmuir has impeccable musical taste and has built a strong following as both a DJ and musician. He will playing music before, between and, most crucially AFTER (DANCE!!) the acts.
Seeing as the works on the disc are not able to performed live, I will be playing a new work for the concert employing toy piano, lap harp, detuned autoharp, tapes, cello and electronics (maybe some other small instruments too). It will also feature projections.
